LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
Recruiting leadership
Turn production reviews into specific coaching, clear ownership, and better follow-through.
01Daily production review
Check what changed, what is blocked, and the next action. Assign an owner and date. Review contacts, appointments, interviews, applications, processing, and outcomes using consistent definitions.
02Pipeline and conversion analysis
Compare stage-to-stage conversion using the same cohort or reporting period. Small samples can swing sharply; investigate before drawing conclusions.
03Activity versus results
Low activity and weak conversion are different coaching problems. Check outreach consistency, contact quality, discovery, appointment setting, and show rates.
04Prospecting and territory plans
Match audience, program demand, access, travel time, and approved lead sources. Build follow-up time into the plan, not only new outreach.
05RinC and DLCPO station visits
Observe a real skill, review the pipeline, ask what support is needed, and agree on one next action. Follow up on the prior visit’s commitment.
06CR, ACR, OPO, and operations review
Use officer and enlisted definitions appropriate to each pipeline. Separate applications, selections, commissions, contracts, Future Sailors, and shipping. Verify official goals and reporting requirements.
07Coaching low performers
Describe observable behavior, hear the recruiter’s perspective, identify the skill or resource gap, demonstrate, practice, and set a measurable follow-up. Use official counseling processes when applicable.
08Developing top performers
Build advanced discovery, referral generation, and peer coaching. Recognize repeatable behaviors and avoid assuming strong production eliminates development needs.
09Training and goal allocation
Base training on observed gaps. Explain goal assumptions, constraints, and support. Verify official command requirements before setting local expectations.
10Level up your recruiting
Practice layered discovery, parent conversations, emotional drivers, and competitive comparisons. Stay accurate about tradeoffs and respect the prospect’s choice.
PRODUCTION REVIEW
Where is the pipeline slowing down?
Use aggregate counts from a consistent cohort or reporting period. Enter zero explicitly when appropriate.
Rates above 100% often indicate mismatched cohorts, definitions, or periods. Investigate before using them to assess performance. Selections and commissions belong to the officer pipeline and should be tracked separately.
