POLICY & PRACTICE

Eligibility & processing

Find the right source and decision authority. This hub does not make eligibility or waiver determinations.

Start with the controlling source. Verify the applicable instruction, Program Authorization, changes, and effective date. A source-directory listing or working link does not establish current policy.

01Mental / ASVAB / officer testing

Identify the program and the current authorized test. Confirm scheduling, validity periods, and score requirements in controlling guidance.

02Moral / legal / drug and alcohol

Use the approved screening and legal review process. Route required records securely and avoid making a determination from a summary or AI conversation.

03Physical / medical

Use current DoD accession medical standards, service guidance, and USMEPCOM procedures. MEPS and authorized service waiver authorities determine their respective outcomes.

04Education

Verify the credential and education category through current recruiting instructions. Route foreign or nontraditional credentials for authorized evaluation when required.

05Citizenship / age / dependency

Read the current manual and program-specific requirements. Confirm required evidence, exceptions, and routing before advising that a candidate qualifies.

06Prior service / tattoos / special programs

Determine the correct path and current screening rules. Consult the appropriate specialist and use current forms.

07Financial / security

Use the authorized security process. Never upload detailed financial or security records into this hub or public AI.

08Waivers

Identify the exact standard, whether waiver consideration exists, required documentation, and the approval authority. Avoid predicting approval.

09MEPS: prescreen and scheduling

Confirm the required prescreen package and service liaison instructions. Resolve missing items before the scheduled visit.

10MEPS: testing, medical, and processing

Explain the planned sequence and that it may change. Applicants should provide complete, accurate information through approved channels.

11MEPS: classification, contract, oath, DEP, shipping

Coordinate each step with authorized personnel. Review actual contract terms and reporting instructions. Officer processing may follow a different sequence.
